Laurel Streetscape Plan
We're excited to announce Phase 2 of the Laurel
Streetscape Plan: The
Planter Container Project. The
Public Rights of Way (PROW) Committee has identified
this project as an excellent way to continue
the beautification of the Laurel
District
which will encourage Oakland/Laurel residents
to support our businesses.
To enhance the shopping and dining experiences
of our District, beautiful terracotta planters
will be placed in strategically located places
from 35th to High
St.
on MacArthur
Blvd.
We have sought the professional landscape/streetscape
advice of Leslie Golden, the landscape consultant
who designed the Laurel Streetscape Phase I,
and John
Frando,
a Laurel
resident architect, to assist with the plan.

The Laurel District
Association will be sponsoring this project in two phases, 2006 and 2007. If you would like to learn more about the
Planter Container Project, the streetscape plans are available for review. Please contact Helen Wyman, the LDA Executive
Director, at (510)301-3122 for more information.

Currently, along MacArthur Blvd. from 35th to High, Phase I planter
placements have been chalked onto the sidewalk.
We encourage you to come see the large planter presently on display at
the Hollywood Video parking lot, 3525 MacArthur Blvd. As the LDA
moves forward with the Planter Project, the PROW Committee will keep all
property owners posted with more information as a more specific timeline of the
project becomes available.

Thank you for your support
of the LDA and the ongoing beautification of the Laurel Business District.
